Sanctum Overtakes Jupiter as Solana’s Leading Protocol by Total Value Locked
According to KuCoin News, Sanctum has pulled ahead of Jupiter Exchange to claim the top spot on Solana by total value locked, with validator liquid staking tokens approaching $1.66 billion by late August.

The flip marks a decisive capital rotation — from DEX aggregation to staking infrastructure — and reframes where Solana's yield-seeking holders should be hunting the next basis point of carry.
The Mechanics Behind the Flip
By the end of Q2 2026, Sanctum hit an all-time high of 16.64 million SOL in protocol TVL, an 8.2% jump from 15.44 million SOL the prior quarter. At then-current SOL prices that translated to roughly $1.28 billion; late-August marks pushed that figure to approximately $1.66 billion across validator LSTs. Jupiter's June 2026 TVL sat at roughly $1.34 billion, a spread Sanctum has now decisively closed.
The structural edge is the Infinity pool: a unified liquidity layer that lets Sanctum's 200-plus partner LSTs share depth instead of fragmenting into thin, isolated markets. That shared liquidity is the reason the protocol keeps pulling capital — stickier swaps, tighter spreads, and a staked-asset wrapper that doesn't sit idle in a wallet. Sanctum now captures about 2.72% of circulating SOL, up from 2.02% a year ago.
The Revenue Caveat
TVL up, revenue down. Sanctum pulled in $880K in Q2 2026, a 39.7% drop from the prior quarter. That's the classic liquidity-mining hangover: deposits chase incentive programs faster than fees accrue, and unit economics lag the headline number. A mobile app launched in July 2026 drew more than 9,000 early users, but until that onboarding converts into sustained swap volume or restaking flow, the protocol is monetizing less per dollar locked than its TVL rank implies.
Yield Compression Is Already Priced In
As reported by The Defiant, Solana validators approved SGP-0002 in the network's first governance vote, doubling the annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. Nominal staking yields are projected to slide from 5.84% to 4.34% in year one, and down to 2.25% by year three. That reorders the math: the LST premium — liquidity, composability, and peg stability on top of a thinning base yield — is the actual product now, not the staking reward itself. Holders chasing headline APY should reframe the model around validator commission, uptime performance, and LST peg depth, because the inflation schedule is no longer doing the heavy lifting.
For investors sizing positions, the regulatory backdrop is worth tracking alongside on-chain metrics. New SEC frameworks proposing tiered $5M and $75M fundraising thresholds for token offerings could reshape how liquid staking and restaking tokens are classified, which in turn affects venue access and institutional flow. Watch validator commission trends, Infinity pool utilization depth, and any divergence between Sanctum's take-rate and Jupiter's swap fees — that spread will tell you whether this TVL flip is sticky or just the latest yield-chasing rotation.
